We are delighted to announce that the Student Lab Summit, the InterLaw Diversity Forum's flagship early careers event, is back!

On 13th December 2024, the InterLaw Diversity Forum will welcome high-potential aspiring lawyers from diverse, socially mobile, and under-represented groups for a day of inspiring panel discussions, practical workshops, and networking with top law firms.

The Student Lab Summit is a one-day event that provides unique insights into life in the legal profession, along with practical skills to help you not only 'get in', but also to succeed in the world of law.

This year's Student Lab Summit will be hosted virtually and generously supported by our member firm organisations. The day will run from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Our programme includes:

  • Plenary discussions with leading figures in the legal profession, each sharing the secrets to their success and perspectives on how to stand out from the crowd

  • Keynote and fireside chat with leading industry figures

  • Interactive breakout workshops providing valuable knowledge and practical skills

  • Access to the Law Fair, bringing an opportunity to speak with firms who are serious about diversity, equity and inclusion

The Student Lab Summit is aimed at current law undergraduates, undergraduates in other fields intending to do the GDL, law graduates (including those who have completed the GDL), and career changers in groups currently under-represented in law firm leadership (minority ethnic, women, LGBTQ+, socially mobile, disability).

NB Completing this application does not guarantee you a space at the InterLaw Diversity Forum Student Lab.. We will inform you should your application for a space be successful.

Application deadline is Monday, 25 November 2024.

Feedback from our previous Student Lab Summits and Student Lab Summer Internship:

I feel inspired more than ever to break through into this industry. I have attended an array of open days and insight evenings with commercial law firms and generally, I have felt underrepresented. However, during this event I felt genuinely included as I saw people from similar backgrounds.

I always knew that the programme would be really beneficial for students and graduates who want to break into the legal industry but it has really exceeded my expectations.

I enjoyed every bit of the programme, from listening to what it means to increase diversity in the legal profession, to learning how we could navigate through our legal journeys.

The Student Lab Summit is the best event I have attended this year!

I felt more confident after hearing from the different speakers. It showed me that despite my challenges, I can still overcome them and become a lawyer.

Student Lab motivated me as I realise even the best lawyers have experienced struggles and rejections.
